One of the saddest parts of my business is getting calls from community members who are feeling bullied by their current real estate broker.
Confidence and assertiveness are important qualities in any real estate agent. You want to feel like they're going to be able to get the job done for you. It is also important that you have A trusting relationship.
Your real estate broker works for you. All the decisions within the negotiations are yours to make. Your broker is your guide. It should be there ultimate desire that you feel as relaxed and satisfied with their service as possible. All Real estate brokers should treat other brokers and their clients with respect always. Someone who initially looks assertive to you may in fact be aggressive and even abusive to others. Make sure your broker has a good reputation with their peers. This could make the difference in your success.
If your real estate agent is making you feel uncomfortable or unhappy in anyway, do your best to communicate that to them. If they do not make an adjustment, it is your right to make a change. Send them something in writing letting them know you will be going in another direction for your representation.
I do not recommend firing your broker lightly. It's a very difficult job and the loyalty of our clients is the lifeblood of our business. Buying and selling homes is a highly emotional and important process. There are many opportunities for misunderstandings. Make sure you're communicating regularly with your broker. Maintain a trusting an open relationship. This will help you'll be ultimately successful in your real estate goals.
